Lake Claremont Dog Agility Area

The Lake Claremont Dog Agility Area is a fenced exercise space in the north-east corner of the Lake Claremont reserve, reached via Servitus Street. It is built around proper agility gear rather than being a plain grassed run, which makes it a genuine drawcard for owners after more than a lap of the lake.

The rules. Dogs may run off-lead within the fenced area. Owners must pick up after their dogs, with bags and bins provided on site. Note the fencing is not guaranteed escape-proof for small or determined dogs, so keep an eye on them, and be aware private trainers sometimes use the space on weekends.

What's there. Agility equipment including tunnels, hoops, climbing steps and hurdles, timber log seating for owners, and a sandpit area for dogs.

Getting there. Access is via Servitus Street, Mount Claremont, with street parking nearby. Claremont train station is a short walk or quick bus ride away.

Watch-outs. The park can get waterlogged after heavy rain, particularly over winter, so a towel for muddy paws is a good idea.

Nearby with the dogs. Lake Espresso and Teebox Cafe both sit on the lake's edge with pet-friendly outdoor seating, and Cup & Co Claremont on Airlie Street is another welcoming option for brunch.

When to go. Weekday afternoons, especially Monday and Tuesday, are the quietest. Saturday mornings draw the biggest crowd, partly from organised training sessions.
