Lake Claremont Dog Agility Area

The Lake Claremont Dog Agility Area is a fenced exercise space in the north-east corner of the Lake Claremont reserve, reached via Servitus Street in Claremont, Perth's western suburbs. It is built around proper agility gear rather than a plain grassed run, which makes it a genuine drawcard for owners after more than a lap of the lake.

The dog setup

The equipment set includes tunnels, hoops, climbing steps and hurdles, with a sandpit for dogs that like to dig and timber log seating for owners watching on. Dogs may run off-lead within the fenced area, owners pick up after them using the bags and bins provided, and the surrounding lake paths stay on-lead under Town of Claremont rules. The fencing is not guaranteed escape-proof for small or determined dogs, so check the fence line before unclipping.

Max: check the fence line before letting a small or agile dog off lead here. A couple of reports note it is not fully escape-proof, and a dog with a head start has bushland to disappear into.

The vibe

Weekday afternoons, especially Monday and Tuesday, are the quietest sessions. Saturday mornings draw the biggest crowd, partly from organised training sessions, so private trainers sometimes have the space working. The ground can get waterlogged after heavy rain, particularly through a Perth winter, so a towel for muddy paws is worth packing.

Getting there and parking

Access is via Servitus Street, Mount Claremont, with street parking around the perimeter, including near the Davies Road and Stirling Road approaches. Claremont train station is a short walk or quick bus ride away, which makes this one of the easier dog parks to reach without a car on the Fremantle line.

Close by with the dogs

Teebox Cafe sits at the lake's edge at the old golf course with pet-friendly outdoor seating, and El Cabro Coffee on Davies Road is a quick coffee option close by. If your dog wants a conventional fenced run instead of equipment, the Carrington Park Fenced Dog Park in Nedlands is a short drive south.
