Allen Park Bushland Trails

Allen Park in Swanbourne pairs 19.1 hectares of Tuart and Marri bushland with big grassed ovals next door, so one outing can cover an on-lead bush walk and an off-lead run.

Leads and the off-lead area

The City of Nedlands lets dogs off lead on the adjacent Allen Park Ovals, except during organised sport and around playgrounds.

In the bushland and around Melon Hill, signs mark fragile conservation and dune zones where dogs must be on lead or are kept out altogether. Read the signs at each entry.

The walk

The trails form part of the Bush to Beach route on the Whadjuk Trails Network. Expect sand and limestone tracks, with a few concrete sections linking to nearby reserves.

Mature trees shade much of the bushland, and the top of Melon Hill looks out towards the ocean and the Perth Hills.

Water and parking

Water fountains sit near the Allen Park Pavilion and ovals, with bins around the precinct. Car parking is on the north side of the park, reached from Odern Crescent or Sayer Street.

Make a day of it

Kilo Cafe in Swanbourne is handy for a coffee after the walk.

Check for weekend sport before planning an off-lead session on the ovals. On hot days go early, before the sandy tracks warm up.
