Statue Bay Coastal Path

The coastal shared path into Statue Bay, just south of Cooee Bay on the Capricorn Coast, is a breezy on-lead walk with the ocean and the Keppel Bay islands in view the whole way. Sun, not distance, is what shapes the outing.

Lead rules

Livingstone Shire Council requires dogs on a leash on public paths and reserves. The shire's beaches are open to dogs before 8am and after 4pm daily unless signs say otherwise.

Cooee Bay Beach is the exception, with dogs banned at all times, so don't drop onto the sand there.

The walk

The path is concrete, part of the shared network linking Lammermoor with Statue Bay. It runs along the rocky foreshore near Statue Rocks, with wide views over the Pacific and out to the islands.

There is little shade, and the coastal plants stay low. Dog water points are sparse, so bring water and a bowl.

Small pull-in parking spots sit near Statue Bay and the nearby beach access points.

Make a day of it

Coffee at Two Sisters Coffee Bar in Cooee Bay makes a good start, or head into Yeppoon for Chapter.

When to go

Walk it early in the morning or late in the afternoon, when the sea breeze helps and the sun is lower. Those hours also line up with the beach times if your dog wants to finish on the sand.
