Chapter is a specialty coffee cafe with a bookshop feel on Hill Street, one street back from the Yeppoon beachfront, and it has a strong claim on the best coffee in town. Dogs are welcome at the sidewalk tables out front, which makes it an easy first stop on the way to or back from the water with your dog in tow.

The dog setup

Dogs sit with you at the outdoor footpath tables along Hill Street; the indoor space is cosy and stays people-only. Staff are friendly, but there is nothing dog-specific set up, so bring a collapsible bowl and your own water, particularly through the Capricorn Coast's warmer months.

The vibe

This is a coffee-focused stop rather than a big-menu cafe: specialty espresso with local milk sourced from the Rockhampton region, hot chocolates, iced lattes and cookies from local suppliers, all wrapped in an industrial fit-out with a metropolitan feel. The bookshop angle gives it a browse-worthy edge while your order comes up.

Getting there and parking

Find it at 2/32-34 Hill Street, parallel to the beachfront promenade. Street parking is available on Hill Street and the nearby side streets, but it fills through the morning and lunch rush, so arrive early or walk in from the foreshore.

Close by with the dogs
