The Alley

The Alley is a laneway bar and eatery on Normanby Street in central Yeppoon that runs from morning coffee through to evening cocktails. For dog owners the appeal is the covered alleyway seating: dogs are welcome outside, and the staff have a strong reputation for being genuinely dog friendly.

The dog setup. Dogs are welcome in the outdoor areas, both the footpath tables and the sheltered alleyway seating. The alleyway is covered for shade and rain protection, and water bowls are often provided. Dogs are not taken into the indoor space.

Good to know. Coffee uses Allpress beans, and there is a good wine and cocktail list. The food covers fresh breakfast and lunch, with poke bowls, loaded pulled pork nachos and bagels among the picks. Live music features at times, so an evening visit can get lively.

Getting there. Find it at 1/14 Normanby Street. Free street parking is available on Normanby Street with more free parking in the nearby CBD. Open daily from 6:30am, closing early earlier in the week and later on Friday and Saturday.

Nearby with the dogs. The Yeppoon foreshore and Main Beach are a short walk away, and the boardwalks near the marina are good for an on-leash stroll with a view.

When to go. A daytime visit is calmer and easier with a dog; the covered alleyway is a genuine advantage on a hot or wet day. If you come in the evening for cocktails and live music, expect it busier and louder.
