Ingenia Holidays Kinka Beach Yeppoon

Ingenia Holidays Kinka Beach Yeppoon is a caravan park on the Capricorn Coast that sits directly across the road from Kinka Beach, and it takes dogs in designated pet-friendly cabins and on sites year-round. For anyone road-tripping the Yeppoon stretch with a dog in the car, it is one of the few base camps where the sand is literally a leash-length away.

Dogs at the park

Pets are welcome on powered caravan and camping sites and in a set of pre-booked pet-friendly cabins, with a fee applying to cabin bookings. List your dog when you book, and check it in at reception on arrival. All pets need to be council-registered, kept on a leash within the park grounds, and never left unattended. Communal areas, including the pools, camp kitchen, amenities blocks and playground, are off limits to dogs. If a cabin needs extra cleaning after a pet stay, a minimum $200 cleaning charge applies, so it pays to towel the salt off before bedtime.

Pepsi: a beach across the road for an early swim before breakfast is about as good as caravan parks get.

The vibe

This is a relaxed, family-oriented park with two swimming pools, a camp kitchen, a recreation room, a jumping pillow and the occasional resident peacock strutting through the sites. Kinka Beach itself is across Scenic Highway, with off-leash time reported before 8am and after 4pm. Treat those windows as a guide and confirm on the beach signage, as council rules change.

Getting there and parking

The park is at 946 Scenic Highway, roughly halfway between Yeppoon and Emu Park, about 40 minutes from Rockhampton. There is parking at your site or cabin, so once you arrive you can walk everywhere you need, including the beach crossing.

While you're out there

Yeppoon's foreshore and its dog-friendly cafes are a short drive north, with Cafe 63 Yeppoon an easy stop on the way into town. South, Emu Park has walking tracks and the ANZAC memorial on the headland, and Ocean Brew Eatery pours coffee with outdoor seating. If the park is booked out, Tasman Holiday Parks - Fisherman's Beach is another pet-friendly option down the coast at Emu Park.

Worth knowing

Pet-friendly cabins are limited and disappear quickly over school holidays, so book ahead. Shoulder seasons in autumn and spring are quieter, the middle of the day is more comfortable for a beach walk, and barking or antisocial behaviour can mean being asked to leave, so it suits settled dogs rather than first-time campers.
