Causeway Lake Walk

Causeway Lake sits on the Capricorn Coast between Yeppoon and Emu Park, and the walk around its foreshore gives tidal flats, pelicans and anglers at every turn. It is a short, scenic loop of roughly 1.5 to 2.5 km.

Leads and the rules

Keep dogs on lead around the lake. Livingstone Shire Council allows off-lead time on some beaches and foreshores before 8am and after 4pm unless signed, so check the signs before unclipping.

Dogs must stay out of signed conservation zones in Causeway Lake Conservation Park.

The walk

Sealed paths near the amenities block give way to sand and compacted earth along the lake edge. Picnic tables and grassy edges make good rest stops, and there is tap water in the park.

Make a day of it

Grab a coffee from Bean Everywhere Mobile Coffee, or continue to the Statue Bay Coastal Path.

Early morning is cooler, calmer and best for the birdlife.
