Ingenia Holidays Causeway Lake

Ingenia Holidays Causeway Lake is a quiet holiday park on the Capricorn Coast between Yeppoon and Emu Park, sitting directly across the road from the water at Causeway Lake. It is a practical, no-fuss base for van, camper and tent travellers with dogs, and a calmer alternative to the busier tourist hubs further up the coast.

Dogs at the park

Dogs are permitted only on designated, pre-booked pet-friendly sites and in select pet-friendly cabins, and you need the park manager's approval included in your booking confirmation before you arrive. Pets are registered at check-in, must be council registered, kept on a leash at all times around the park, never left unattended, and kept out of communal areas like the camp kitchen and pool. Excessive barking is not tolerated, so this suits a dog that settles well. Guests are liable for any damage their pet causes.

The lake and the beach

The location does the heavy lifting. The lake shoreline is a short walk for scenic on-leash laps, and the fishing off the banks is a local drawcard. Kinka Beach is across the road, and under Livingstone Shire rules dogs are allowed off lead there before 8am and after 4pm, so an early or late beach run is the routine; always check the signage at the access points in case conditions or rules have changed.

Worth knowing

Back at the park there is a barbecue area, hot showers and the usual holiday park facilities, with the communal areas off limits to dogs. For supplies and coffee it is a short drive to Yeppoon or Emu Park, both with dog-friendly cafes. Pet-friendly sites are limited, so book ahead for peak periods.

Pepsi: get the dog registered at reception on arrival, then it is straight across the road for the morning beach shift before the off-lead window closes at 8am.
