Coomoora Woodland Flora and Fauna Reserve

Formally the Coomoora Woodland Flora and Fauna Reserve, this patch of remnant native woodland sits beside the sports fields of Coomoora Reserve on Coomoora Road in Springvale South. It is a quiet on-lead walk among old trees, wildflowers and birds.

Lead rules

The City of Greater Dandenong manages the reserve. Dogs must be on a lead here, as they are across council open space unless a signed off-lead zone says otherwise.

The walk

Natural dirt tracks weave through the woodland, while paved paths run around the sports fields in the wider reserve. Pairing the two gives you bush and open lawn in one outing.

The woodland canopy gives natural shade, and there is more shade near the playground and fields. Look for seasonal wildflowers in the bush section.

There are drinking taps with dog bowls near the barbecue area, bins around the park and free parking off Coomoora Road.

Go when you have time to wander slowly. It suits dogs that prefer a calm, sniffy walk to a crowded park.
