Warner Reserve Dog Off Leash Area(Springvale)

Warner Reserve on Furnew Street is a large, open sporting reserve in Springvale with a designated off-leash area alongside its ovals and soccer fields. It is more community sports hub than dedicated dog park, so boundary awareness matters more here than at a fenced yard.

The dog setup

City of Greater Dandenong lists the reserve among its off-leash parks, and dogs can run off-leash in the designated area provided they stay under effective voice and visual control, because the zone is largely open and unfenced. Leash up within about 10 metres of the playgrounds, the barbecue and picnic areas, and during any organised sport or training on the ovals, and leash the dog on the way in and out. Pick up immediately; bag dispensers are usually stocked but carry your own as backup.

Worth knowing

The reserve is big by suburban standards, over 14 hectares, with paved and gravel paths winding through for an on-lead warm-up, two playgrounds, cricket nets, tennis courts and outdoor fitness gear. There is no confirmed dog water fountain, so bring your own water, and shade is limited and scattered on hot days. Soccer training takes over the ovals on weekday afternoons and evenings, which pushes the usable off-leash space around.

Max: this one's open, not fenced, so a dog with patchy recall needs a long line here rather than full freedom. Steer well clear of the soccer training squads too.

Getting there and parking

The reserve is off Furnew Street, easy to reach from Springvale Road, with on-site parking off Furnew Street and Amiel Street. Sandown Park station is roughly 2.5 to 3 kilometres away, so it is a drive rather than a train trip for most visitors.

Close by with the dogs

If you would rather a securely fenced space, Springvale Reserve Fenced Dog Park is a short drive away, and Lightwood Road Fenced Dog Park in Noble Park is another fenced option to the north. Cafe Vita et flores in Springvale is worth a look for a coffee stop on the way home.
