West Creek Corridor

The West Creek corridor is a long ribbon of concrete path through Toowoomba's southern suburbs, and its best feature for dogs is an unfenced off-lead section at West Creek Park No. 6.

Leads and the off-lead area

Toowoomba Regional Council allows dogs on lead along the corridor path. The off-lead section is at West Creek Park No. 6, just north of Alderley Street and south of the City Golf Club.

It is unfenced, so only unclip a dog with a reliable recall.

The walk

The path is concrete and shared with joggers and cyclists. It follows the creek channel past linear parks, sports fields and footbridges, and you can make the walk as long or short as your dog needs.

Mature trees shade some stretches while others are open. Seats and bins sit at entry points and park nodes, and there is street parking off the cross streets.

Bring water and a bowl for the dog.

Theiss Dog Park in Darling Heights has a fenced off-lead area with agility gear, and Coronation Park in Harristown is another walk nearby.

Because the path is shared with bikes, a dog that reacts to them is best walked early or late. The flat paving suits older dogs, and the off-lead stretch gives younger ones a run.
