Theiss Dog Park

Theiss Dog Park in Darling Heights is a fully fenced off-leash park in Toowoomba's south, next to Rosenstengel Street. For owners around the UniSQ area it removes the guesswork: secure double-gate entry means you can let your dog run without scanning the horizon, which is exactly why the park draws a steady stream of regulars.

The dog setup

The main yard is fully fenced with a double-gate entry, and there is a separate smaller fenced zone for less social or smaller dogs, which gives anxious dogs a genuine option rather than the fence line. Water is well handled: a tap-fed dog drink station sits inside, plus a water fountain for humans. Covered seating, pergolas and newer undercover tables run along the perimeter, and a few small agility obstacles give high-energy dogs something to work through. Waste bags and bins are provided; pick up, and make sure both gates latch behind you on the way in and out.

Worth knowing

A children's playground and BBQ area sit beside the dog park, which makes the reserve work well for families, but keep an eye on the dog-side fence line if your dog gets excited around kids and food. Weekday and early mornings are the quiet windows, and the best bet for a dog still building social confidence.

The park sits directly off Rosenstengel Street in Darling Heights, with street parking available nearby. It is within walking distance for much of the UniSQ area, and local bus routes serving the university give an alternative from further afield.

Visiting from out of town, Toowoomba Caravan Park in neighbouring Kearneys Spring takes pets, and the BIG4 Toowoomba Holiday Park at Harristown is another nearby option worth checking for pet availability.
