BIG4 Toowoomba Holiday Park

BIG4 Toowoomba Holiday Park at 34A Eiser St, Harristown is a family caravan park on Toowoomba's southern side, formerly known as the Garden City Holiday Park. It takes dogs in selected ensuite cabins and on sites, which makes it a practical base for travellers heading up or down the range with a dog in the car.

Dogs at the BIG4 Toowoomba Holiday Park

Pets are permitted on caravan and camping sites and in designated pet-friendly ensuite cabins, not across every cabin in the park. The usual limits apply: up to two dogs per booking, with a weight cap of around 20 kilograms per dog for cabin stays. The pet fee runs at approximately $15 per pet per night. Declare your dog at the time of booking rather than on arrival, because stays are accepted at the manager's discretion.

Once in the park, dogs stay on a lead and are kept out of communal and shared facility areas. The rules are conventional, and the defining facts are the designated-cabin arrangement and the 20 kilogram cap, so owners of larger breeds should ring ahead before committing to a cabin booking.

The park itself

Facilities are pitched at families rather than dogs: a camp kitchen, BBQ area, pool and a jumping pillow, with cabins guests regularly describe as clean and spacious. It is a well-equipped park base close to the city, and a sensible one if you are using Toowoomba as a stopover on the New England or Warrego Highway.

Getting there and out and about

The park sits on Eiser Street between the Toowoomba CBD and the university precinct, an easy drive from the Warrego Highway exit. For a walk with a view, Table Top in Rangeville is the classic short climb on the range's southern edge, and Park House Café in Toowoomba City does a coffee stop on the way through town. If the park is full, Banksia Cottage is a boutique cottage stay closer to the city that also welcomes dogs.
