Rosford Street Reserve

Rosford Street Reserve, also called Rosford Park, sits on Prospect Creek in Smithfield rather than Wakeley, and it is an on-lead space. Come for a sealed walk past playing fields and creekside woodland, not an off-lead run.

Lead rules

Fairfield City Council does not list the reserve among its off-leash areas, so dogs stay on lead at all times. The paths are shared with cyclists, another reason to keep the lead short.

The walk

Concrete shared paths take you past open grassed ovals, a children's playground and native woodland along Prospect Creek. The creek marks the boundary with Cumberland City Council.

Mature trees around the edges give some shade, but the fields are open. Bins are spread through the park.

There are no dog water bowls, so carry a bottle. Street parking runs along the reserve boundaries.

Max: Sports fields and a playground mean kids and balls. Keep the lead short when games are on.

Make a day of it

For off-lead time, head to Wakeley Dog Park, or try Fairfield Showground Fenced Dog Park, which splits its fenced areas by dog size.

It suits dogs that walk calmly on lead around bikes, balls and playground noise.
