Gardenia Parade Park Fenced Dog Park

The fenced off-leash area at Gardenia Parade Park is a compact, fully enclosed run in a quiet residential pocket of Greystanes, managed by Cumberland City Council. It is the sort of place locals use every day rather than a destination park, and that is exactly its appeal: no crowds, no sprawl, just a grassed space where the gate shuts behind you.

The dog setup

The enclosure is one open grassed space with mature trees for shade and bench seating at the edges. There is no separate yard for small dogs, so size up the mix inside the gate before you unclip. Dogs must be leashed as you enter and leave, and stay under effective voice control even inside the fence. Waste bins are on site and a water tap with bowls is usually available, though it pays to carry a backup supply on warmer days.

Children need close supervision around unfamiliar dogs, and any dog showing aggression is expected to be leashed and taken out straight away. Bitches in season and puppies that are not fully vaccinated are better left at home under the council's general off-leash rules.

Worth knowing

Max: no small-dog yard here, so give the enclosure a quick scan through the gate before you let yours off. If the only other dog inside is twice his size and rude, come back in twenty minutes.

The ground holds water after heavy rain, so expect muddy paws in wet spells. Paths through the park are basic, which matters if you are pushing a pram alongside the dog.

The park sits at 157 Gardenia Parade, with street parking along the parade itself. Buses run along Merrylands Road a short walk away, which gives you a public-transport option without a long hoof across the suburb.
