Hampden Road Reserve is a small, fully fenced off-leash park in South Wentworthville, open to dogs of all sizes around the clock. It is a straightforward neighbourhood option rather than a destination park, best suited to a quick run or a training session on basic agility gear.

The rules. Dogs must be supervised by someone 16 or older and kept under effective control even off-leash. Waste pickup is mandatory, with fines of up to $275 for not clearing up. Declared dangerous or restricted breeds are not permitted, and any dog showing aggression must be removed straight away.

What's there. The park has a secure fenced perimeter (worth a quick check for gaps before letting dogs off-leash), basic agility equipment, waste bag dispensers and bench seating. Water is usually available on-site, but there are no public toilets, so plan ahead.

Getting there. The reserve is at 8 Hampden Road, South Wentworthville, with street parking directly on the road. It is easily reached via the Cumberland Highway or M4, with bus stops on the nearby arterial roads.

Weekday mornings and early afternoons are the quietest times to visit, while weekends and the after-work window from 4pm to 6pm draw more of a crowd. If your dog is nervous around other dogs, a weekday visit is the safer bet.
