Lake Seppings

Lake Seppings, also known as Tjuirtgellong, is a wetland loop in Seppings, Albany, with views across the water to Mount Adelaide. Dogs are welcome on lead only.

Lead rules

The City of Albany allows dogs here on a lead. The lake is a waterfowl and nature reserve, so the lead is there to protect the birds.

The walk

The loop is about three kilometres on flat, formed dirt path and wooden boardwalk, an easy walk suited to most dogs. Paperbarks, reeds and low shrubs line the way.

Max: This is a waterfowl reserve. Keep the lead short where the reeds come close to the path.

Water and shade

There are no dog water fountains on the loop, so carry a bottle and bowl. Shade comes and goes, with open stretches between the paperbarks.

Bins are near the access points and parking, but not along the trail, so bring bags. Informal parking and roadside pull-ins sit close to the start.

Walk the Ellen Cove Boardwalk or the Luke Pen Kalgan River Walk, then warm up at Dôme Café.

Early mornings are the time for birdlife. Being flat, it suits older dogs too.
