Lake Seppings Trail

Lake Seppings, also called Tjuirtgellong, sits a short way back from Middleton Beach in Albany, and the trail around it is a flat wetland loop of roughly 3 kilometres. Dogs are welcome, but only on a lead, the whole way round.

The walk

The path is well-formed dirt and gravel with timber boardwalk sections, graded as easy with no steep steps. Allow about 45 minutes for the full circuit.

The open water draws a busy mix of waterbirds, which is exactly why the City of Albany keeps dogs leashed here. Birds nest along the edges, so keep your dog close to the path.

Water and shade

There are no dog bowls or fountains on the loop, so carry water and a bowl. Plenty of trees shade parts of the circuit, though some stretches are open.

Bins sit near the access points and parking areas, but bags are not always supplied, so bring your own. The nearest toilets are down at Middleton Beach.

Max: Waterbirds breed around this lake. A short lead near the reeds keeps everyone out of trouble.

Make a day of it

Finish with an off-lead run at Middleton Beach Dog Beach, then grab a coffee at The Surfing Bean.

The flat, even surface and modest length make it an easy daily loop for older dogs, puppies and anyone after a gentle stroll.
