Russell Island Conservation Corner and Whistling Kite Wetlands

Off High Street on Russell Island, a signed community track starts at Conservation Corner and loops out through the Whistling Kite Wetlands. Dogs are welcome on lead for the roughly 3.4 km circuit.

Lead rules

Dogs must stay on a lead and under effective control, as this is a conservation area in Redland City Council land. Off-lead play belongs at the island's designated dog areas instead.

The walk

The circuit follows natural dirt paths, cleared fire trails and road reserve. It passes regenerating swamp plants and pockets of wetland full of birds.

It is signed and maintained as a community conservation walk. Bring water for the dog.

Max: This is a conservation area full of birds. A short lead keeps me from flushing them off the wetland.
