Russell Island Dog Park

Russell Island Dog Park is a fully fenced off-leash area with airlock double gates, drinking water and picnic tables, a straightforward option for a safe off-lead run without watching the tide or the season.

The rules. Dogs must be under control and return reliably when called. Close both airlock gates behind you when entering or leaving, and put your dog back on lead once outside the fenced area. Pick up after your dog and use the bins provided. Do not let dogs chase or disturb wildlife.

Getting there. Reach Russell Island via TransLink ferry from Weinam Creek Marina, Redland Bay, then drive or taxi to the park. On the ferry, small dogs must travel in a carrier and larger dogs must be muzzled and on lead.

Nearby with the dogs. Jock Kennedy Recreation Reserve is about 1.5 kilometres away and adds a boat ramp and waterfront picnic spot to the day. Russell Island's small run of cafes near the town centre, including Cafe Memory Lane, generally offer outdoor seating for dogs.

Quiet most days given it is a small local facility, with mornings the calmest time. Good for a reliable off-leash stretch regardless of season, since unlike the reserve nearby there is no shared-hours schedule to track.
