Two Creeks Track Teaser

Two Creeks Track Teaser is the Ku-ring-gai Council bushland opening stretch of the longer Two Creeks Track, reached from Echo Point Park in Roseville Chase on Sydney's north shore. The one fact to know before you lace up: dogs on lead are welcome on this council section, but the full 5.8 km track continues into Garigal National Park, where dogs are strictly prohibited, so this is a there-and-back teaser rather than the complete walk.

The walk. From Echo Point Park the path drops into a sandstone gully, bushland closing in with the creek running alongside for part of the way. Expect uneven footing and a few short climbs, nothing technical. The full track runs 5.8 km, 1 to 1.5 hours end to end past Babbage Falls and mangrove sections, but dogs cover the opening stretch only, turning back before the national park starts.

The rules. Ku-ring-gai Council permits dogs on lead on its bushland sections. NSW National Parks and Wildlife Service, which manages Garigal National Park, strictly prohibits dogs once the track crosses into the park. Signs mark the boundary, and taking a dog past that point risks a fine, so turn around there rather than pushing on.

Water. Small sandy banks along the creek let dogs wade in or take a proper dip before you turn back, a good spot to cool a hot dog off with no detour needed.

Hazards. The track turns muddy and slippery after rain, and a stormwater tunnel under the Eastern Arterial Road can flood in wet weather. Leeches can turn up after rain, and snakes may be active in warmer months, so keep dogs on lead and on the path.

Getting there. Echo Point Park on Babbage Road, Roseville Chase, is the main dog-friendly entry, with a small car park on site. Street parking is also available at Amarna Parade or Tryon Road. By public transport, take the train to Lindfield Station then bus 556 or 557, or walk in from Lindfield Oval.
