Currie Road Dog Park

Currie Road Dog Park sits just before the entry to the Forestville Park sportsground on Currie Road, an open grassy block that locals treat as a quick off-leash stop rather than a destination you plan a whole morning around. With all-hours access and a low crowd factor, it suits dogs who mainly want room to run.

The dog setup

Dogs are welcome off-leash here around the clock, every day, which is less common than you would think on the Northern Beaches. The trade-off is that the area is only partially fenced, so it works best for dogs with reliable recall rather than determined explorers. Council keeps the strip of bushland and creek line east of the site out of bounds, and with good reason: that vegetation is known to carry paralysis ticks, so give it a wide berth and run a quick tick check over your dog after a visit, even if they never left the open grass.

Worth knowing

The setup is deliberately basic. Bench seating and natural shade are about all you get, and there is no water station on site, so pack a bowl and your own supply. The grass can run long between mowing rounds. Dogs are not permitted on the organised sports fields next door, and the usual expectations apply: bags in, waste out, and your dog within sight at all times.

Getting there and parking

The off-leash area sits on Currie Road immediately before the Forestville Park sportsground car park, with additional street parking along the surrounding residential streets. Bus stops on Warringah Road are a short walk away if you are arriving on foot with your dog.

Close by with the dogs

If the partial fencing is a dealbreaker for your dog, the Forestville Dog Off-leash Area near the Forestville Avenue playing fields offers a fully fenced alternative with a water bubbler, and Frenchs Forest Showground adds more open space a few minutes north. For a coffee stop afterwards, Daisy Coffee Shop is a local favourite with outdoor seating in the suburb.
