Off leash dog areas

Roseville Park's off-leash area sits on Clanville Road, a fenced patch of open ground that locals treat as the default spot for a proper run. It is under Ku-ring-gai Council rules, an easy walk from Roseville station, and busy enough on weekends that well-socialised dogs do best.

The rules. Dogs must be under effective control at all times, and leashed on the way in and out of the off-leash zone itself. Stay off the sports ovals when games are on, and keep at least 10 metres clear of the playground and any food preparation areas. Pick up after your dog immediately; Ku-ring-gai Council can fine $275 for not doing so.

What's there. A water tap for dogs, litter bins, and seating with some shade around the edges. The wider park adds toilets, picnic tables and a barbecue area if you're making a morning of it.

Getting there. The area is on Clanville Road, Roseville. Street parking is available on Clanville Road and the surrounding residential streets, and it's within easy walking distance of Roseville railway station on the North Shore line.

Nearby with the dogs. A handful of cafes along the Pacific Highway in Roseville and Lindfield do outdoor seating for dogs on lead. For an overnight stay, pet-friendly serviced apartments in Chatswood or Lindfield are the nearest options.

Weekday mornings are the quiet window here; weekends and the 4-6pm slot on weekdays draw the biggest crowds. If your dog needs space to himself, get there early.
