Dixon Road Conservation Precinct

The Dixon Road Conservation Precinct in Rockingham, right on the edge of East Rockingham, protects a patch of remnant bushland with an easy trail and a climb to an old hilltop homestead. Dogs can come, on lead.

Lead rules

The City of Rockingham manages the precinct. Dogs are allowed but must remain on a leash at all times, which suits a reserve set aside for its bush and birds.

The walk

The trail is rated easy, with a hardened bush-track surface that is fine for most dogs. It winds through balga, marri and tuart, with local birdlife along the way.

The climb to the homestead is the one real effort on the route and gives the walk a clear turnaround point.

Water and facilities on the trail are not confirmed, so bring water for the dog.

Make a day of it

Follow the walk with an off-lead run at Rockingham Dog Beach, then a coffee at Bean at the Beach.

Go early in warmer months, when the bush is cooler and the birds are about.
