Wolston Creek Bushland Reserve

Wolston Creek Bushland Reserve, reached from the far west end of Sumners Road in Riverhills, pairs bush walking tracks with a fenced off-lead dog park. Eastern grey kangaroos are often seen among the eucalypts.

Leads and the off-lead area

Brisbane City Council requires dogs on lead on the bushland tracks and loop trails, to protect wildlife. The off-lead area is fully fenced, covers over 2,600 square metres and has separate sections for small and large dogs, plus agility equipment.

The walk

Tracks are natural earth, grass and dirt, running through open eucalypt forest with views along the creek. After rain they turn muddy and boggy.

Max: With kangaroos about, keep the lead short on the bush tracks and never let the dog give chase.

Water taps, bins and covered seating are on site, and there is street parking off Sumners Road.

Forking Espresso in Sumner is handy for a coffee, and Pooh Corner Bushland Reserve in Wacol offers another bush walk.

When to go

Pick a dry spell, as the tracks bog quickly after rain. The split dog park suits small or timid dogs that need their own space.
