Garnet Lehmann Park

Garnet Lehmann Park is a 2.8-hectare park in Rangeville, on Toowoomba's eastern side, with an unfenced off-leash area under big shade trees. West Creek runs right beside it, and that is the part most dogs remember.

Lead rules

Toowoomba Regional Council has marked the off-leash area in the middle of the park with signs and bollards. It is not fenced, so good recall matters.

Dogs go back on lead in the children's playground area to the south and in the northern section past the detention basin.

Getting around

Concrete path sections cross the park as part of the wider creek corridor, with open grass and some dirt and mulch tracks alongside. If your dog wants more, keep walking along the corridor toward the neighbouring reserves.

Mature native trees shade the off-leash zone, which sits between the playground and the basin. Park on the street around 15 Aberdeen Street, as there is little parking inside.

Make a day of it

Coffee afterwards is easy in East Toowoomba at Sage & Butler or Cafe Valetta.

When to go

The shade makes this a good summer pick. It suits social dogs with solid recall that enjoy a paddle in the creek.
