The Coffee Chest

The Coffee Chest is a small coffee window and courtyard cafe at 1A Burke Street, Rangeville, attached to The Linen Chest boutique in a quiet residential pocket of Toowoomba. It opens 7am to midday Monday to Saturday and closes Sundays, and dogs are welcome in the sunny outdoor courtyard while you work through a long black and a toastie.

The dog setup

Dogs belong in the courtyard seating rather than indoors, and there is no fee for bringing one. Staff have a friendly reputation with pets, but bring your own water bowl and lead rather than assuming bowls are out. The space is small and personal, so a settled dog at your feet fits the rhythm of the place.

Worth knowing

The coffee is roasted by Puncheur up in the Noosa hinterland, and the cabinet is homemade: toasties, with the classic ham, cheese and tomato a regular favourite, plus fresh cakes and baked goods. The attached Linen Chest is a fashion boutique, so one of you can browse the racks while the other holds the courtyard table with the dog. Regulars come back for the quiet, personal service as much as the coffee, and morning is the whole show since the doors close at noon.

Getting there and parking

Burke Street has free parking directly out front, convenient for a quick takeaway run if the courtyard is full. Weekday mornings are the quiet version of the visit; check the hours before heading over because Sunday is a closed day.
