Mungarra Reserve

Mungarra Reserve follows the south bank of the North Pine River in Petrie, just across from Lawnton. Paved riverside paths and a fenced agility dog park make it an easy all-rounder.

Leads and the off-lead area

City of Moreton Bay allows dogs off lead only inside the enclosed off-leash area, which has agility equipment. Everywhere else, on the paths and in the parkland, they stay on a leash.

The walk

Concrete paths and shared walking and cycling tracks wind under mature eucalypts, past ponds with waterbirds and patches of remnant forest. Keep an eye out for koalas in the gums.

A pedestrian bridge links the reserve to Sweeney Reserve if you want to walk further.

Water and shade

Water fountains and dog drinking stations are on site, and bins and bags are spread through the park. The trees shade much of the route.

Parking is near the main entries, including off Affleck Avenue, with toilets and picnic tables close by.

Make a day of it

Finish with a coffee in Lawnton at Mugs Cafe Lawnton or Wheelhouse Coffee.

The paved, shaded paths suit older dogs and warm days alike.
