Peninsula Link Trail

The Peninsula Link Trail is a long sealed shared path beside the freeway corridor, and its southern end finishes around Moorooduc. For a steady on-lead walk with no street traffic to dodge, it does the job.

Lead rules

Dogs must be on a lead for the whole length of the trail. Some local parks beside it have their own off-lead zones, but the path is not one of them.

The walk

The surface is asphalt and concrete, with the odd short gravel connector near local reserves, so it stays usable after rain. Scenery shifts between suburban edges, industrial stretches, wetlands and semi-rural easements.

At the Moorooduc end it sits near the Moorooduc Coolstores and the Moorooduc Highway, and it links north toward Baxter and Frankston if you want more distance.

Heat and supplies

The Moorooduc stretch is largely exposed, so it gets hot in warm weather. Water and dog bins are scarce, so carry a bowl, water and bags, and hold waste until a council bin at a road crossing.

Parking is informal, at roadside pull-offs rather than a trailhead car park.

Max: Moorooduc Quarry Flora and Fauna Reserve nearby bans dogs outright. Stay on the trail and skip the detour.

Make a day of it

Eat at Mustard Moorooduc, or let the dog loose at Summerfield Reserve Fenced Dog Park in Mornington.

Go early on summer days. The even surface suits dogs building fitness and owners who like to jog.
