Parnkalla Trail

The Parnkalla Trail runs about 13 kilometres along Port Lincoln's coast, from the town foreshore to Billy Lights Jetty and beyond, with Boston Bay in view most of the way. Dogs are welcome on a lead.

Lead rules

The City of Port Lincoln treats the trail as an on-leash area at all times, since it is a shared path used by walkers and cyclists.

The walk

Sealed bitumen runs through town and along the foreshore, with compacted gravel and natural ground further out. Coastal scrub, old maritime structures and sea life keep things interesting.

You do not have to do it all. Pick a short leg from any trailhead, or walk as far as your dog wants.

Water, shade and parking

Drinking water is available along the foreshore and main sections, and dog bag stations and bins sit at key access points. Shade is patchy, with open clifftop stretches and some shelters near the town foreshore.

Free parking is available at trailheads, including near the main foreshore and Billy Lights Jetty.

Max: The clifftop sections have little shade. On warm days, walk early and carry extra water for the long stretches.
