Port Lincoln Dog Park

Port Lincoln Dog Park is the town's first fully fenced off-leash park, on Puckridge Place off Windsor Avenue in the northern suburbs. Secure mesh fencing and a double-gated entry make it a safe run for bolters and small breeds alike, and a rarity on the Eyre Peninsula.

The dog setup

The enclosure comes with a dog drinking fountain, an undercover picnic bench, retained native trees for shade, and stormwater pipes and logs repurposed as climb-and-explore features. Waste stations and bins are on site, so there is no excuse for leaving anything behind.

Work the two-gate airlock properly: close each gate behind you before opening the next so nothing slips out. Dogs must be supervised by a responsible adult and stay under effective control, and if yours gets stressed or reactive, leash up and step out. Community safety officers patrol the area and the park runs as a shared space.

The vibe

It is busiest after about 4:30pm on weekdays and on weekend mornings. For a quieter run, aim for mid-morning or mid-afternoon on a weekday, which suits anxious or small dogs better. The enclosed layout and climb features also make it a handy spot for young dogs still learning off-leash manners.

Max: the airlock only works one gate at a time. Latch the outer gate before the inner one opens, especially with a dog that pulls toward other dogs.

Getting there

The park is roughly a 10-minute drive north of the Port Lincoln CBD and foreshore. On-street parking is easy around Puckridge Place and Windsor Avenue, and it is walkable on local footpaths if you are staying in the northern suburbs. There is no dedicated water source for owners, so bring your own in summer.

Pair it with

Finish with a coffee at Del Giorno's Cafe or Eyre Roasted, both in town with outdoor seating, or a wander along the foreshore path on lead. The Hotel Boston has a grassed waterfront area where dogs are welcome, and the Port Lincoln Tourist Park is a dog-friendly overnight base.
