Hotel Boston

Hotel Boston is a casual foreshore tavern at 189 Tasman Terrace, right on the water at the southern end of the Port Lincoln foreshore on Eyre Peninsula. It is the tavern sitting closest to the water in town, and its big grassy alfresco area looks straight over Boston Bay, so a pub feed with the dog comes with sea views.

The dog setup

Dogs are welcome in the outdoor alfresco beer garden, the grassy waterfront side of the venue, on a lead beside you. The indoor bar and dining room are off limits, so ask for an outdoor table. The garden is shaded, which helps on warm afternoons, and there is no set water service, so pack a bowl. The beer garden backs onto the foreshore path, so keep the lead short near the gate where foot traffic and passing dogs collect.

The menu

The kitchen covers fresh local seafood, oysters and garlic prawns alongside pub classics like the house schnitzel, with live music regulars and a family-friendly feel. In the cooler months the venue runs its waterfront igloos, weather-proof dining pods with electric fireplaces and blankets that seat up to eight, booked in two-hour slots, though those are a separate reservation from a standard beer garden table. Doors open from 10am daily and trade runs late.

Getting there and parking

Tasman Terrace is the foreshore road through town, with free street parking along it and the surrounding foreshore streets. It gets busy in peak holiday season, and the pub sits right on the foreshore walking path, so it is an easy mid-walk stop on foot.

Close by with the dogs

The foreshore path runs directly in front for an on-lead stretch, the town beach sits just across the way, and the Port Lincoln Dog Park gives a proper off-lead run nearby. For other meals in town, Cruisers Hub and Del Giorno's Cafe are both local options.
