Port Lincoln's Heritage Trail follows a natural watercourse through bushland from Springfield Drive to Stuart Terrace, a quieter option than the coastal path. Dogs walk it on a lead no longer than 2 metres.
Lead rules
The City of Port Lincoln manages the trail as an on-leash route. Keep the lead short when bikes come through, as walkers and cyclists share the path.
The walk
The path is sealed bitumen, with seating along the way and access for people with limited mobility. Native bush and plenty of birds give dogs a lot to sniff at.
Established trees shade parts of it. Water for dogs is limited, so carry a bottle and bowl, along with bags.
Getting started
Free parking is near both ends, off Springfield Drive and Stuart Terrace.
Pair it with
For off-lead play, Port Lincoln Dog Park is fenced, and Del Giorno's Cafe is a good coffee stop in town.
The sealed surface and gentle tracks make it a sound pick for older dogs and slower walkers.
