Little Para River Trail

The Little Para River Trail is the City of Salisbury's long linear path, running from the hills near the Little Para Reservoir down to Barker Inlet. The stretch past Para Hills West is flat, sealed and made for an easy on-lead walk.

Lead rules

Keep dogs on a lead on the trail. Claims of evening off-lead hours are not confirmed by council, so save off-lead play for the fenced dog parks nearby.

The walk

Concrete and bitumen paths follow the seasonal river through stands of mature river gums, with good shade in places. Further west the country opens out into samphire flats and mangroves near the inlet.

The whole trail runs some 14 to 16 kilometres one way, so pick a section and turn around when it suits. Bins are placed near access points and picnic spots.

Make a day of it

Add a lap of The Paddocks Wetlands, or let small dogs loose at Pooraka Small Dog Park.

Flat and paved, it suits older dogs; the shaded gum sections are the pick on warm days.
