Nuffield Park

Nuffield Park is a small sunken lawn on Ascot Avenue in Zetland with a signed off-leash area, a rare patch of free-run grass among the apartment blocks.

Leads and the off-leash area

City of Sydney allows dogs off lead on the northern grass lawn, the section bounded by Hutchinson Walk, Ascot Avenue, George Julius Avenue and the east to west park footpath.

Everywhere else in the park, dogs must be on a lead. They are not allowed on the basketball court at all.

What's here

Paved footpaths run beside the lawns, framed by mature trees. There is also a tennis practice wall and public toilets, open daily from 8am to 9pm.

Shade over the off-leash lawn is thin and there is no confirmed dog water, so bring a bottle and bowl on warm days. Bins sit on the park edges.

Make a day of it

For a bigger run, Joynton Park on Gadigal Avenue is close by. Naxeion Cafe is handy for a coffee on the way home.

When to go

This is a quick-play park for local dogs rather than a destination walk. Street parking is tight at peak times, so it works best on foot, early or late on hot days.
