Weigall Oval

Weigall Oval on Birdwood Terrace in North Plympton is a modern sports and recreation precinct beside the Westside Bikeway, with dog water fountains and bags on hand. Dogs are welcome on a lead.

Lead rules

The City of West Torrens keeps dogs on a lead here, and they must stay out of the fenced playground area.

The walk

Concrete and asphalt paths run around the grounds and join the sealed Westside Bikeway, so you can keep it to a lap of the oval or stretch it into a longer walk along the bikeway.

Along the way are the sports fields, nature play spaces and the tennis and basketball courts.

Water and shade

Drinking fountains include dog bowls, and bag dispensers sit beside the bins. Trees around the perimeter give shade, and there are toilets near the clubrooms.

Parking is free, both on site and on nearby streets.

Make a day of it

Finish with a coffee at Yellow Matter in Brooklyn Park or Half Cup Cafe in Cowandilla.

The level paths and water on site make it an easy pick for older dogs and hot days.
