Half Cup Cafe

Half Cup Cafe is a halal-certified cafe at 1/231 Sir Donald Bradman Drive in Cowandilla, five minutes from Adelaide Airport. It is a breakfast and lunch spot with a roomy, shaded outdoor area where dogs are genuinely welcome, and it has built a loyal following on the strength of its scratch bakery and accommodating staff.

The dog setup

Dogs join you in the outdoor seating rather than inside, and the space is big enough that a settled dog is no squeeze. Water bowls are available, and lactose-free puppuccinos run around $2.90. The team is known for going further than most: staff have regularly brought coffee out to owners whose dogs were waiting with them.

Worth knowing

The whole menu is halal certified, which makes it a standout in Adelaide's inner west. The Hash Brown Benedict is the signature, layered with poached eggs, pastrami, spinach and hollandaise over a house-made hash brown, and there are vegetarian, vegan and gluten-free options across the board. The bakery case is baked in-house daily, with banana bread, brownies and rotating cakes. Hours run 6:30am to 2pm Tuesday to Friday and 7am to 2pm on weekends, closed Mondays, so it is a morning plan, not an afternoon one.

Getting there and parking

There is free off-street parking on site plus street parking on Sir Donald Bradman Drive. It is an easy stop coming off the airport corridors or on the way into the city.

Close by with the dogs

For an off-leash run, the West Torrens Dog Park at Kurralta Park is a short drive down Marion Road, fully fenced with a separate small-dog section and agility gear. The Torrens Linear Park corridor is also close for an on-leash walk, and Torrens Linear Track Loop maps out the riverside circuit.
