West Torrens Dog Park

West Torrens Dog Park sits along the Westside Bikeway near Moss Avenue at Kurralta Park, a fully fenced off-lead facility run by the City of West Torrens. Three separate sections, South, Central and North, split the space up, with dedicated areas for smaller dogs, and amenities solid enough to make it one of western Adelaide's most dependable suburban dog parks.

Leash status

Off-lead runs across the fenced sections, open around the clock, but dogs must stay under effective control the whole time. Read the gate signage on every visit: sections are designated small-dog or all-dog, and those designations rotate for turf recovery and maintenance, so last week's layout may not match today's. Dogs go back on a lead within two metres of the adjacent shared paths and cycle paths. Remove pinch collars and harnesses inside so other dogs cannot snag them, keep the gates clear and step in when play turns rough.

Max: check the gate signage every visit. The small-dog section rotates between the three yards, so the map in your head goes stale fast.

Water and terrain

The ground mixes lawn and paved sections, which handles heavy traffic well, though dry weather raises dust and wet months leave muddy patches, so plan footwear. Water stations and a wash-down station cover the practical side, doggy bags are provided, and shaded seating with undercover areas gives owners somewhere to sit. Communal tennis balls are often left in play. The entrance is wheelchair accessible.

Getting there and parking

The park sits just off the Westside Bikeway near Moss Avenue, with Brickworks Marketplace nearby as an easy landmark. Street parking is available on the surrounding streets, and the linear path gives direct access on foot or by bike.

When to go

Weekends draw heavy crowds, especially in the peak morning and afternoon windows, which is great for social dogs and testing ground for shy ones. Mid-morning or early afternoon on a weekday is noticeably quieter if you want space to work on recall.
