Tweety Bird Cafe

Tweety Bird Cafe is a family-run cafe at 300C Anzac Highway in Plympton that has built a name on Asian-fusion brunch: Sarawak laksa, beef rendang eggs benedict and wagyu mee pok alongside a solid espresso menu. Dogs are welcome at the outdoor seating out front, and the kitchen is the reason people detour here.

The dog setup

Dogs join you at the outdoor tables near the entrance, on lead. This is a genuinely busy stretch of Anzac Highway, so keep leads short and seat your dog on the cafe side rather than toward the road. Bring your own travel bowl for water rather than counting on one being available, and give staff a heads up if the outdoor section is busy.

The vibe and the menu

Closed Mondays, open 8am to 4pm Tuesday through Sunday. The Malaysian-fusion brunch menu is the draw and it is unlike anything else in the western suburbs: the crispy pork laksa gets singled out constantly, alongside fried chicken waffle, chilli scrambled eggs and black sesame lattes. It is a busy, compact room with a loyal following, so weekend brunch hours mean a wait, and arriving early is the honest advice.

Getting there and parking

The cafe sits on Anzac Highway with street parking on the surrounding side streets, and it is a straight shot from the city or the beachside suburbs. For a walk with the dog either side of brunch, the Glenelg North dog-friendly beach is a few minutes west, and Incognito Cafe is the other dog-friendly coffee stop in Plympton itself.
