Knox Park

Knox Park is Murwillumbah's central town park on Brisbane Street, a Tweed Shire Council space with sealed paths, big lawns and a pond with a little island the locals call Ibis Island. Dogs are welcome on a lead, which makes it an easy walk to fit around a trip into town.

Lead rules

Knox Park is not an off-leash area, so dogs stay on lead throughout. Council rules also keep dogs at least 10 metres from children's play equipment, and there is a busy adventure playground here.

The walk

Sealed concrete paths loop past open lawns, mature shade trees, the pond and a skate park. It is flat, accessible walking with plenty to look at.

There are water bubblers near the amenities and playground, bins around the grounds, and parking at the park.

Make a day of it

For an off-lead run close to the town centre, try River Street Park. If you want a longer on-lead outing, the Northern Rivers Rail Trail: Tweed Section starts nearby.

When to go

The leafy canopy makes it a good choice on warm days. When the playground is busy, keep to the far paths and give it a wide berth.
