William Howe Regional Park

William Howe Regional Park is a quiet bushland reserve on the Mount Annan and Narellan Vale border, and the drawcard for dog owners is the confirmed on-leash access across the whole park, including the loop trail and the lookout with views toward the Blue Mountains.

The rules. Dogs are permitted on-leash at all times, in all areas of the park, per NSW National Parks. Stick to the formed tracks, keep the leash on the whole way round and carry your own waste bags since bins are not guaranteed on the trail.

The walk. The main feature is a loop trail through bushland, finishing at a lookout with elevated views over the Macarthur region. It is an easy to moderate walk, well suited to a steady on-leash stroll rather than an off-leash run.

What's there. The Turkeys Nest picnic area has tables and is the natural stop for a break partway round. There is no drinking water on site for people or dogs, so bring enough for the whole walk, plus a bowl.

Getting there. Access is off Claymore Road, Mount Annan/Narellan Vale, with on-site parking at the Turkeys Nest area. Public transport does not reach the park directly, so a car is the practical option.

Weekday mornings are the quietest time to walk it; weekend afternoons bring more picnicking families to the Turkeys Nest area. Good for a steady on-leash walker who wants a proper bushland outing without leaving Mount Annan.
