Mawson Lakes Trail

The Mawson Lakes loop follows the man-made lakes at the heart of Mawson Lakes, on smooth paved paths with turtles, waterbirds and public art along the way.

Lead rules

City of Salisbury rules depend on where you are. On streets, footpaths and wetlands, dogs must be on a lead no longer than 2 metres at all times.

In general parks and reserves, dogs are on lead from 8am to 6:30pm and may be off lead from 6:30pm to 8am, provided they are under effective control. Fenced playgrounds are dog free.

The walk

The path is paved concrete and asphalt all the way, smooth enough for wheelchairs and prams. It suits older dogs and anyone after an easy, level loop.

Expect waterbirds on the lakes, turtles basking at the edges, and sculptures set along the route.

Max: Turtles and waterbirds sit right at the lake edge. Keep the lead short near the water.

When to go

Early evening is a good choice, when the heat has eased and the off-lead window opens in the reserves off the loop. Bring water for the dog.
