The Light Pass Heritage Trail is a self-guided tour of the historic Barossa village of Light Pass, part walk and part drive. With a dog, take the walkable village section on the footpaths and keep the lead on.
The walk
The full tour takes about an hour and a half with driving between stops. On foot in the village you pass historic churches, an old mission house, ruins and a small cottage museum, with vineyards all around.
Underfoot it is ordinary township footpath and roadside verge, so watch for traffic where there is no path.
Lead rules
The Barossa Council expects dogs on lead and under control on township paths and heritage routes. For a run, use the fenced dog park in Nuriootpa.
Make a day of it
Let the dog loose at Nuriootpa Fenced Dog Park, or walk the Barossa Bushgardens.
Best in the cooler months, when the vines colour up and the footpaths are not baking.
