Lesmurdie Brook Loop

Lesmurdie Brook Loop is a 1.9 km circuit in Mundy Regional Park in the Perth Hills, about half an hour east of the CBD. It follows the brook past small bridges and handcrafted seats with views toward Lesmurdie Falls, and the managing agency confirms dogs are welcome on lead throughout.

Leash status

On lead at all times, confirmed with the Parks and Wildlife Service. There is no off-lead area in the park, and the brook itself is a corridor for local wildlife including quendas, which is part of why the lead rule is enforced rather than advisory.

Max: this is a lead walk, not a run. The payoff is the brook and the falls views, and a dog on a leash misses none of it.

The walk

It is a Class 2 trail: easy going on a modified, hardened surface with gentle hills and the occasional step, no bushwalking experience needed. Most walkers take 30 to 60 minutes at a relaxed pace, and there are no bikes, motorbikes or horses to dodge on the route.

The circuit suits a short family outing rather than a workout. If the legs want more, the falls lookouts sit at the same trailhead and extend the walk without leaving the park.

Water and hazards

There is no drinking water at the Falls Road car park, so bring your own for both ends of the leash. The surface holds up in normal conditions but can be loose or slippery after rain, and the brook runs strongest from June to November.

Getting there and parking

The trail starts at the Lesmurdie Falls car park off Falls Road, which has free parking, toilets, picnic tables and information panels. It fills quickly on weekend mornings, especially through spring, so arrive early or come late afternoon.

Winter and spring are the best windows, when the brook and waterfall run properly and wildflowers line the route. Summer mornings still work, but the Perth Hills heat builds fast on the exposed sections.
