Kirkham Park

Kirkham Park on Camden Valley Way is Elderslie's big sporting ground, and its open fields and perimeter paths make room for a long, easy on-lead walk away from tight suburban streets.

Lead rules

Camden Council allows dogs on lead in the general park areas and along the paths. It is not an off-lead space.

Dogs must stay at least 10 metres from children's play equipment, including the renewed playspace. They are also not allowed on the sports grounds while organised sport is being played.

The walk

Sealed paths run around and through the park, with grass surrounding the fields. Along the way you pass cricket pitches, the playground and skate facilities, and there is parking at the park.

Bring water for the dog, as there is no confirmed dog tap on the paths.

Make a day of it

For an off-lead run, River Road Reserve Fenced Dog Park is close by in Elderslie. Hilder St Espresso is nearby for coffee.

When to go

Weekday mornings are the easy option, when the fields are not in use. On game days the paths get busy, which suits a dog calm around crowds but not a nervous one.
