Hilder St Espresso

Hilder St Espresso is a walk-up coffee window at 35 Hilder Street, Elderslie, set into the front of the Camden Surgical Hospital building, pouring Allpress espresso with a Sonoma Bakery cabinet alongside. It is a takeaway-first local stop rather than a sit-down brunch room, and dogs are welcome at the outdoor terrace tables next to the counter.

The dog setup

This is mostly a walk-up and takeaway window, so the outdoor terrace seating is where dogs join you; the counter service area is people only. Staff are known for friendly, personal service and will usually bring a water bowl out if you ask, but do not count on one sitting ready, so a travel bowl is smart on a warm Macarthur morning. With a four point nine average from a few dozen reviews, the regulars clearly keep coming back, and the terrace's small footprint means a settled, leashed dog is the polite guest here.

The menu

Coffee is Allpress espresso, served from 5:30am on weekdays for the early-shift crowd, with milkshakes and cold drinks on the board. The cabinet runs on fresh Sonoma Bakery deliveries, including almond croissants and giant specialty cookies, and the kitchen turns out brekkie favourites, gourmet toasties, loaded sandwiches, pies and granola through the morning. There is an online Bopple menu if you want to check the lineup or order ahead before you park.

Getting there and parking

Find it on Hilder Street in Elderslie, just off the Camden bypass side of the suburb, with free street parking right outside. Hours are 5:30am to 2pm Monday to Friday and 7am to 12pm Saturday, closed Sundays, so it suits an early walk rather than a late one. Weekend mornings are the busiest stretch, and Saturday trade ends at midday.

Close by with the dogs

The natural pairing is the River Road Reserve Fenced Dog Park, an Elderslie fenced run a few minutes away, and the Nepean River walking paths nearby turn the coffee stop into a proper on-lead outing. If you are headed towards Camden's northern edge instead, the Narellan Leash Free Park and the Burrell Road Fenced Dog Park at Spring Farm cover both ends of the leash spectrum.
