Indooroopilly Riverwalk

Indooroopilly Riverwalk hugs the Brisbane River beside the Art Deco Walter Taylor Bridge, partly on a boardwalk out over the water. Dogs are welcome on lead, and it's paved from end to end.

Lead rules

Brisbane City Council allows dogs on the shared paths and riverside parks here, on a lead and under effective control. Off-lead play is only allowed in signed off-leash areas.

The walk

A concrete shared path joins the boardwalk section, giving broad river views and a close look at the heritage-listed bridge. Bikes use the path too, so keep the lead short.

Sir John Chandler Park, on Meiers Road by the river, has an off-leash area that's open at all times, plus fountains with dog bowls, bins, shade and parking.

Pepsi: Finish with a run in the Sir John Chandler Park off-leash area, then a long drink from the dog bowl.

Make a day of it

Moore Park is another Indooroopilly walk close by, and Lambert cafe is handy for coffee.

When to go

Early mornings are cooler and quieter on the shared path. The smooth surface makes it easy going for older dogs.
