Sir William Fry Reserve

Sir William Fry Reserve sits on the corner of the Nepean Highway and Bay Road, right on the Cheltenham and Highett border, and mixes paved loops with off-lead space around a central pond. The City of Kingston manages it.

Leads and the off-lead area

Parts of the reserve, such as the area south of the central pond, are signed for off-lead dogs. Near the playground and at the water's edge, dogs must be on lead.

The walk

Paved walking and cycling paths loop through rolling lawns and plantings, past the pond, the skate park and the playground. The surface is easy going for all walkers.

Shade comes from mature trees and sheltered picnic areas, with open grass in between.

Water and facilities

Drinking fountains with dog bowls are near the playground. There are bins by the car park, public toilets, free gas barbecues and picnic tables, plus free off-street parking.

Make a day of it

Regulator Cafe Highett and Third Wheel Highett are close for a coffee.

It suits dogs that want both a lead walk and a run in one stop. Keep the lead handy as you pass the playground and the pond.
