Greenway Park

Greenway Park on Greenway Drive in West Hoxton is a big community sports park with paved circuit paths around its playing fields. Dogs are welcome on lead, and the wide sightlines make it an easy everyday walk.

Lead rules

Liverpool City Council keeps off-leash exercise to specific designated reserves, and this is not one of them. Dogs must be on a lead at all times here.

The walk

Sealed concrete paths loop the park, shared with joggers, bikes and prams. You pass open playing fields, an outdoor gym and a playground under shade sails.

Mature trees along the perimeter give intermittent shade over the paths.

Getting started

On-site parking is available but can fill during heavy weekend sports fixtures. Water is on site, though a portable bowl makes it easier for the dog.

Bins are provided, and toilet access can be limited to clubhouse hours on sports days.

For an off-lead run, Shale Hills Fenced Dog Park is close, and the Shale Hills Loop adds a longer walk.

When to go

Weekday mornings dodge the weekend sports crowds and the parking squeeze. The flat paths suit older dogs.
