Wilson Park Fenced Dog Park

Wilson Park Fenced Dog Park is a dedicated, fully fenced off-leash area within the Wilson Park reserve at 1 Kent Street, Wilson, right near the Kent Street Weir on the Canning River. The secure perimeter is the main draw: proper off-leash play without straying into the surrounding bushland and river trails.

The dog setup

Entry runs through a double-gated enclosure and dogs must be leashed everywhere outside the fence. Under City of Canning rules you keep your dog under effective control and supervise at all times, curb any aggressive behaviour, and clean up using the bins on site.

Keep dogs off the playing fields and ovals when organised games or training are running, and do not let them chase birds or wildlife near the native bushland at the river's edge.

Worth knowing

On-site amenities include unisex toilets, a drinking fountain with low basins for dogs, and parking including accessible bays. Passive lawns surround the enclosure, and the Kent Street Weir walking tracks give an on-leash leg to extend the outing along the water.

The fenced area itself sits on higher ground, but expect mud on the nearby riverbank paths after heavy rain or high tides.

Getting there

Drive in via Kent Street and use the parking near the northern side of the park, though bays can fill on busy weekend mornings. Transperth buses run along Kent Street, including routes 72 and 75, and the park is a short detour off the Albany Highway corridor. The public facilities generally open from 5.30am to 8.30pm.

Make a day of it

For a coffee afterwards, Kynd Coffee Co in Cannington and Espressoul Coffee and Kitchen in Riverton are both close.

Mid-week mornings and early afternoons are the quietest windows for dogs that need space, while weekend mornings and weekday late afternoons after 4pm bring the biggest crowds.
